Starting this thread to see if anyone has real-world experience dealing with Farm and Harvest Machinery out in Del Mar, CA (2010 Jimmy Durante, Blvd #205, 92014) I recently stumbled across their listings on harvestmach.com and they have a Caterpillar mini excavator priced well below what my local dealers are asking. I talked to one of their reps and they mentioned they source a lot of their inventory directly from auctions, which explains the lower price tag. I’ve seen a handful of positive reviews online saying they’re a decent family-run outfit, but I’m always a bit skeptical about buying auction equipment sight unseen. Has anyone here actually bought a machine from them? Curious to hear what you guys think about their inventory condition and if they're safe to wire money to.

I just recently picked up a Kubota compact tractor from them and can confirm they’re legitimate. Being a smaller family business, they actually take the time to answer your calls instead of transferring you to five different departments. They walked me through the whole freight process and kept me updated until the lowboy pulled into my driveway. It’s pretty rare to find a used equipment seller that actually communicates well these days. Thumbs up from me.

Found them through a local listing on Marketplace. The shipping speed itself was actually okay and the tractor arrived on schedule, but dealing with their office staff was a total headache.

Purchased a Bobcat skid steer from them a few months back. Overall everything went completely fine with the transaction and the machine is out working on jobs right now with zero mechanical issues. My only real gripe is that their office staff can be painfully slow to reply / to text updates. You just have to be prepared to call them directly if you want a fast answer.

Just wanted to jump back in here with an update! I decided to take the risk and went ahead with the purchase on that Caterpillar. The delivery truck just dropped it off at my yard yesterday afternoon. Honestly, I couldn't be happier. The machine looks great, fires right up, and the undercarriage has plenty of life left on it. After worrying about it for weeks, it's a huge relief. These guys are really damn good at what they do. Appreciate everyone's input in this thread, it definitely helped me make the jump!

Question for anyone running a Bobcat or Cat mini in this thread: What size trailer are you guys using to haul your machine around? I’m looking at a 14k dump trailer to double as a hauler for my Kubota, but I'm worried about the deck height and loading angle with shorter ramps.

Go with a dedicated 14k tilt-deck flatbed if you can swing it. Loading an excavator into a dump trailer is a pain in the ass when the steel tracks are wet... you'll slide all over the iron bed and the steep angle on those short slide-in ramps will make your stomach drop every time. Ask me how I know lol.
